Conference Objectives:
To increase participants’ awareness of the Social Thinking® methodology and how it applies to transition into
adulthood.
To increase participants’ knowledge of how to prepare students for college and an understanding of supports in
post-secondary school.
To increase participants’ ability to support young adults in the world of work and independent living.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Pamela Crooke, Ph.D, CCC-SLP, Social Thinking®

Dr. Pamela Crooke is a speech/language pathologist and part of the clinical team at Michelle Garcia-Winner’s
Social Thinking Center in San Jose, California. She is also a member of the clinical faculty at San Jose State
University. Prior to her move to California, she served on the faculty at the University of Arizona's Department of
Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences for a number of years where she taught in the areas of Autism Spectrum
Disorders and management of pediatric communication disorders. While in Arizona she coordinated the
interdisciplinary clinical services at the Autism Extension Clinic within the Tucson Alliance for Autism. Her area of
research interest is treatment efficacy in social and relational therapies for individuals with social cognitive
challenges.
Dr. Crooke published an article on the effectiveness of teaching of “Social Thinking” vocabulary in children with
Asperger and High Functioning Autism in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders. She worked as a
school speech-language pathologist in Arizona for 14 years and has presented her work on a national and
international level. She is the co-author (with Michelle Garcia Winner) of four books related to Social Thinking in
young children and teens/young adults.
INDEPENDENT LIVING – POST SECONDARY EDUCATION
Beverly Boggess, Ph. D
Beverly Boggess is in her twelfth year as the Coordinator of Disabilities Services at NHTI- Concord’s Community
College of the Community College System of New Hampshire. She earned her Bachelor of Science cum laude from
Bowling Green State University in Elementary and Special Education and has taught students with special needs in
Ohio, Kansas and New Hampshire in grades 1-9. She completed her Master of Education in Supervision in Special
Education at Kent State University where she went on to earn her Ph.D. in General Special Education with a minor
in Rehabilitation Counseling while teaching in assessment and methods and supervising student teachers. Dr.
Boggess directed and coordinated a field-based teacher education grant project in special education, supervised
student teachers and taught at several colleges. She worked in projects for professional development for family
services and foster care workers, program evaluation in school districts and consumers with developmental
disabilities. Beverly is serving her second term as the President of the NH Learning Disabilities Association
(NHLDA), which had previously acknowledged her work in SAU#48 and teacher education with their Excellence in
Education Award. Beverly has a personal interest in Asperger’s because three of her cousins are on the spectrum.
Lorraine Wolf, Ph.D
Dr. Wolf is the Director of Disability Services at Boston University. She holds a doctorate in clinical
neuropsychology from the City University of New York and has over 25 years of experience working with children,
adolescents and adults with neurodevelopmental disorders. She has taught experimental psychology, assessment,
and neuropsychology at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Wolf has published and presented nationally
and internationally on issues for students with attention and learning disorders, psychiatric disabilities, and autism
spectrum disorders. She holds faculty appointments in psychiatry and in rehabilitation sciences at Boston
University. She was a co-editor of Adult Attention Deficit Disorders: Brain Mechanisms and Life Outcomes (2001,
New York Academy of Sciences), is the senior co-editor of Learning Disorders in Adults: Contemporary Issues
(Psychology Press, 2008), and is the co-author of Students with Asperger Syndrome: A Guide for College
Personnel (Autism Asperger Publishing Company, 2009) and Students on the Spectrum: A College Guide for
Parents (in press). Dr. Wolf’s interests include the neuropsychology of attention disorders, and developing effective
services for students with autism spectrum and other psychiatric disabilities in higher education. Along with her co-
presenter Jane Thierfeld Brown, she developed a model of service delivery for college students entitled “Strategic
Education for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders”. She is the parent of twin teenagers, one of whom is on the
spectrum, which gives her a unique insight into these courageous young people.
Jane Thierfeld Brown, Ed.D
Jane Thierfeld Brown is Director of Student Services at the University of Connecticut School of Law. She has
worked in Disability Services for 33 years. Dr. Brown received her B.A. from the University of Rhode Island in
Speech Pathology. While coordinator of disability services at URI she received her M.S. in Counseling and M.A. in
Education. She holds an Ed.D from Columbia University, Teachers College. At Barnard College she directed a
federal grant program on women with disabilities in higher education. Dr. Brown’s main research interests are
students with Asperger's Syndrome in higher education and students with disabilities in high stakes graduate
programs. She consults at many higher education institutions and is a frequent speaker at conferences on
Asperger’s Syndrome. She co-authored, “Students with Asperger’s : A Guide for College Professionals,” which was
published in 2009. The second volume, “College Students on the Spectrum: A Guide for Parents and Clinicians,”
was published in 2011. Dr Brown consults with colleges, students and families around the country on issues for
students with autism spectrum disorders. She has three children, the youngest being a 20 year old son on the
spectrum.
EMPLOYMENT
Teresa Bolick, Ph.D
Dr. Bolick is a licensed psychologist and board certified behavior analyst, who consults with children, adolescents,
families and schools throughout New Hampshire and Massachusetts. She is the author of Asperger Syndrome and
Young Children: Building Skills for the Real World and Asperger Syndrome and Adolescence: Helping Preteens
and Teens Get Ready for the Real World. She presents frequently at conferences for family members,
professionals and paraprofessionals. She has a special interest in neurodevelopment disorders, including autism,
Asperger Syndrome, and other autism spectrum disorders.
